Survival Homestead

The myth on the silver cauldron survived into the medieval period to become the great Irish epic Táin Bó Cualinge. The myths on the gold cauldron survived into the medieval period, by way of Irish sagas about Diarmaid and Grainne and those about Cú Chulainn and Cú Roi, to become the Arthurian tales of Tristan and Isolde (later a famous Wagnerian opera) and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. These cauldrons enlighten us about the earliest European literary traditions as well as about early European religion.
